Large-scale, well developed cross bedding in a cliff of Navajo Sandstone, along one of the Canyons in the Escalante Canyons region of the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, Utah, USA. The Navajo sandstone are a geological formation in the Glen Canyon Group and are world famous for their well-developed cross stratification. It formed as ancient sand dunes which were part of an ancient desert (erg) which covered the western side of the supercontinent Pangea.
