Latest Information on Lada Niva

The Lada Niva is a Russian built 4x4. Niva is Russian for “fields”. It has been in production since 1977 and manufactured by AvtoVAZ for off-roading and the rural market. In 2014 the name was changed to the Lada 4x4 following General Motors taking ownership of the Niva brand. The development of the Lada Niva began after the Premier of the Soviet Union asked designers, VAZ and AZLK, to create a vehicle for workers and villagers. Several mechanical components were taken from the earlier Fiat 124 based Zhiguli models while the drive system, suspension and body were designed by VAZ. In 2009, Vladimir Putin (Russian Premier) had a camouflage-painted which was flaunted in the media for supporting domestic manufacturers.
