Hey guys, I need some advice. I just bought a K-5 (from the marketplace here), and while everything looks fine, these two dots in the center of the sensor are really bothering me.

They show up at small apertures, like dust, but they don't look like dust! They have some sort of halo around them, and blower doesn't get them off, neither does in-camera dust shake.

What do you think it is? Should I try cleaning it off, or should I be asking the seller?

I'm no repair pro, but those spots don't look that different from dust spots I've seen.

Is that so? I really hope that's true!

But from my experience, "normal" dust spots usually don't have halos, they're just black.

I had similar spots on my K-x sensor that had some of that halo effect, though not exactly. They were not just dust that would blow away, but required some cleaning solution.

So, jelly stick didn't work, neither did eclipse. Those two dots won't go away! The sensor is squeaky clean otherwise...

That's not good news. I don't know if the warranty will cover this.

Can't tell you anything otherwise but look like dust to me.
I wiped the sensor of my K100D super before when dust shaking or dust blowing couldn't force them off the sensor.

I had spots on my K20D that looked similar. Air wouldn't get rid of them. Tried the camera process and still wouldn't get rid of them. I then purchased a couple of different kits for oily and general spots and these didn't work. I then finally sucked it up and sent it out for cleaning. They not only got rid of them they cleaned up the viewfinder which had some floaties as well. I think it ran me $90.00, probably spent half that on other things with no success.

If you just got this I would contact the forum member you purchased from and see if they wouldn't be willing to help out or at least provide some insight!!

It was a local camera service center here in St. Louis, MO. I've used them for years both personally and for business and have never had a problem with any of the repairs/service.

They are called CSI Camera Repair Center. Great thing is they service all brands, makes, etc.

I never noticed them nor did I actually look at the sensor. In the 500 shots are so that I did they were all at larger apertures. I apologize for the issue and I will be happy to help you resolve it. What I do ask is that you be extremely careful if you are going to try to clean the sensor. I'm easily within the 30 days to exchange the camera with newegg.
