Are You An Outfit Planner? Rachel Bilson Is!

Confession time: When I was in middle school, I kept a meticulous diary of what I wore each day, painstakingly chronicling outfits to avoid repeats (because 6th graders really notice that kind of thing!?). I still spend an embarrassing amount of time thinking about what I'll wear the next day, and sometimes do three outfit changes in an afternoon just to make sure I'm occasion-appropriate. And it turns out, so does one of my wardrobe idols, Rachel Bilson!

The star of the upcoming show Hart of Dixie tells the new issue of InStyle Makeover, "I know this sounds terribly shallow, but I've been mapping out my outfits for the next day every day since I was little, even before high school. I have a very busy mind—there's constant chitter-chatter up there—but what I'm wearing the next day? That's definitely something that's always been in my head before I go to sleep at night."

What a refreshing statement from a celebrity! I feel like all too often, when I interview women whose style I admire, they end up saying something generic like, "I just wear what's comfortable," or "I throw on whatever's clean in the morning," which would be remotely believable if they weren't in 16 layered necklaces and two mismatched prints and a vintage grandpa sweater over a leather dress! Style as chic as Rachel's takes careful consideration, and I'm so happy to hear her cop to it. I'm also kinda relieved to know I'm not the only one who spends my last waking minutes thinking about my next day's outfit!

How about you, gals? Do you lay out your clothes before you go to bed at night? (Emma Stone recently admitted she does, too!). Or are you more of a stand-in-front-of-the-closet-hemming-and-hawing-in-the-morning kind of girl? Does it help you to have a clear picture of what you're going to wear the next day, or does that take the spontaneity out of getting dressed? Are you an outfit planner, like Rachel and me? Share!

Oh, and in case you need help planning said outfits:
