Vic Chou is a Taiwanese singer, an actor, and a member of the Taiwanese boy band F4. He was born in June 1981, in Luodong which is located in Yilan County in Taiwan. His birth name, as well as his stage name, are pronounced the same.

He has an elder brother and his parents divorced when he was about the age of six. Vic Chou’s father is Chang Kuo-Chu while his mother is Zhung Lu.

When Vic began his acting career, he became very successful in his profession within a short duration. His acting career made him influence a lot of people which also earned him a lot of fame.

His fame went far and beyond his country Taiwan to other nationalities. He has been very successful in his career and has been nominated in several categories as the best actor.

1. He Became Famous for his Role as Hau Ze Lei in Meteor Garden Series

Vic Chou rose into fame very fast resulting from the role of Hau Ze Lei. The role was performed in the Taiwan television series, Meteor Garden. The spectacular television series became very popular in entire Taiwan within a short period.

Vic Chou cast the television series alongside; Vanness Wu, Ken Chu, and Jerry Yan. When the Meteor Garden concluded, they all continued to perform together and released three albums as the F4 boy band.

2. Chou was the First F4 Member to Release his Album

Vic Chou was the first to release his album amongst the four members of the F4. The album, make a Wish was officially released in January 2002.

This was also followed by another album “Remember, I love you” which was also released in January 2004.

“I’m Not F4” was the English title for his third solo album which he released in October 2007. His third album came first on the Taiwan major charts for three weeks.

3. He Took Complex Roles in the “Mars” Series That Were a Turning Point in his Career

Chou continued to feature in other several series apart from the Meteor Garden such as Poor Prince and Love Storm. He made up his mind to take up complex roles in 2004 during the television series, Mars.

The role involved a set of twins who had mental illness and he considered it as his turning point. He has also confessed in several interviews that his interest in acting was truly revealed then.

Since then he has taken up complex roles such as the ambitious businessman who was lonely in the series, Silence. He also played an awkward novelist who was very passionate in Wish to See You Again.

4. He was Nominated for Best Actor at the 44^th Golden Bell Awards

Vic Chou departed from the Taiwanese idol drama in 2009 and was featured in the police drama, Black and White. The police drama was produced by Prajna Works while the location filmed was Kaohsiung in Taiwan.

He took up a challenging role of a policeman whose past was thrown into a dangerous network of corruption.

He was later nominated as the best actor during the 44^th Golden Bell Awards for his spectacular work in Black and White.

5. Vic Chou Won the Most Popular Taiwanese Actor Award

During the Seoul International Drama Awards, Chou won the Most Popular Taiwanese Actor in 2010. In the same years, he also featured in a romantic film “Love You 10,000 Years”.

The film was rated the 5^th best-selling Chinese film in entire Taiwan in the year 2010. The film also won in the category of “Most Popular with the Audience” during the Osaka Asian Film Festival.

6. Chou Returned to Small Screen After Five Years

Vic Chou was able to return to the small screen after five years in 2018.  He also featured in two-period dramas “The Flame’s Daughter” and the “Beauties in the Closet in 2018.

“The Flame’s Daughter” was a Chinese television series that was founded on a novel of the same name.

He is also set to feature in the “poetry of the Song Dynasty” together with the portraying Zhao Heng and a Chinese actress, Liu Tao.

7. His Performance in “Home” Earned him the Golden Bell Award

Chou continued to excel in his career after starring with Ella Chen in a romantic comedy in 2012. In 2013, he won the Best Actor award during the Golden Bell Awards after his magnificent performance in “Home”.

He also featured in other captivating films such as Go Lala Go 2, Storm, the comedy film Two Wrongs make a right, and Don’t Go Breaking My Heart 2.

8. Vic Chou Released his First Photographic Album as a Teen

Chou released his first photographic album in October 2002. The album was entitled “Travel Dream” which contains some of his pictures that were shot during his trip to Hokkaido, Japan.

4 Faces was the title of the second photobook which was announced in 2006. The second Photobook has four themes namely; Cool Face, Natural Face, Fashionable Face, and the Stylish Face.

Chou played the role of Lin Xudong in the film “Linger” in 2008. Linger is a Hong Kong romantic drama film that was directed by Johnnie To. 

He also featured in “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart 2” in 2014, playing the role of Cheng Zijian.

10. Chou has Been Featured in several Television Series

He played the role of Fang Zhitian in the television series “Sweet Relationship” in 2007. 

In 2009, he was featured in the series “Memoirs of Madam Jin” where he played the role of Sheng Yueru.
