Udupi: Mango in shape of chayote found in rare occurrence

Udupi, May 20: In the rarest of rare happenings that is reported from the district, mango has taken the shape of chayote (Seeme Badane Kayi) vegetable. Some trees of the orchard have taken this odd shape, which is unbelievable.

This strange phenomenon has occurred at Kota in the farmland of entrepreneur Kota Subraya Acharya. Generally mangoes will be of similar shape. But these mangoes are difficult to identify as they look like chayote.

The mangoes in the shape of chayote that have grown on the farmland of Subraya Acharya can only be recognized through smell. This rare phenomenon has taken even the agriculture experts by surprise.

Subraya Acharya says, “From 35 years, I have been getting mangoes on the trees of my house. This is the first time that five to six mangoes have taken the shape of chayote.”
