TANGERANG - Tangerang Police Traffic Unit forbids the existence of odong-odong cars which are commonly used to entertain children on public roads. This is considered not in accordance with roadworthiness and safety standards.

The Head of Traffic at the Tangerang Police, Kompol Fikri Ardiyansyah, said that to get eligibility, one must have a type test certificate (SUT) and a vehicle type test registration certificate (SRUT) issued by the Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia.

"So for the modified vehicle (odong-odong), yes, of course it violates the rules," said Fikri when confirmed, Thursday, July 28.

Therefore, if in the future a odong-odong vehicle is found on the road, then his party will not hesitate to conduct fines to confiscate the vehicle.

Based on Article 277 of Law Number 22 of 2009 concerning Traffic, every vehicle that has changed its type or has been modified must be subjected to a type test, which if it does not fulfill the type test obligation, it will be subject to sanctions.

"We will definitely do a fine. And we will first see what kind of violation it is, in the sense that we check the correspondence such as STNK and SIM. If there are no documents, we will just arrest the vehicle," he concluded.

As previously known, the odong-odong car was involved in an accident with the Merak-Rangkas Bitung Railway, resulting in 9 deaths and 24 injuries.

The incident occurred in Silebu Village, Serang Regency, Tuesday, July 26, at 11.00 WIB.
