Vanitha Vijayakumar attacked

Actor Vanitha Vijaykumar, whose daughter Jovika is a contestant in the current season of the television reality show Bigg Boss Tamil, has been brutally attacked by an unidentified person.

Vanitha has alleged that her attacker appeared to be a supporter of evicted Bigg Boss contestant Pradeep Antony.

Posting a picture of her badly swollen face after the attack, the actor wrote, “Bravely posting my attack. Bigg Boss 7 Tamil is just a game show on TV. I don’t deserve to go through this. Brutally attacked by God knows who! A so-called Pradeep Antony supporter.”

Vanitha Vijaykuma said the attack took place when she was returning home after finishing her review of Bigg Boss Tamil 7.

‘Are you giving the red card’

The actor added that she finished dinner and was walking down to her car which she parked in her sister Sowmya’s house when a man appeared from nowhere.

The man reportedly said “red card kudukreengala? Ni support vera” (Are you giving red card? On top of it, You are supporting) before punching her face hard and fleeing the place.

“I was in so much pain. Bleeding in my face and yelling. No one was around 1 am,” Vanitha said.

The actor revealed that she called her sister who, in turn, urged her to report the incident to the police. “However, I told her that I had lost trust in the process.”

Vanitha Vijaykumar said she took first aid and left for home in a rage as she was not able to identify her attacker.

“He laughed like a lunatic which haunts my ears. Taking a break from everything as I am not in a physical condition to appear on screen. For those who support disturbed people, the danger is just feet away,” she wrote.

While some netizens and social media users empathised with her, a few others doubted her claims and wondered why she did not lodge a police complaint.

Some went to the extent of even trolling her.

The actor, in a tweet tagged the police, said, “I thank @tnpoliceoffl for the immediate care and assistance. I need to rest and heal emotionally and physically. I kindly request everyone to spread love and give me privacy till I am better.”

‘Jovika has nothing to do with this’

The actor also took the trolls to task.

She said, “Taking necessary action. It’s pathetic to see how bots can make a crime committed by someone look like a publicity stunt. This is exactly why people don’t go to the police or voice out. You should be ashamed to victim-shame anyone. I’m resting and healing.”

She further wrote: “#Jovika has nothing to do with this. The child I raised would throw away anything for me and run to me if she knew this happened to me when I was alone. She will blame herself for not being there for me. She is the world’s best daughter. So, keep her away from this. It is my problem.”

She also went on to add, “And my mistake I was alone at that time of the night. Staying safe should have been my responsibility. We live in a pathetic world with monsters. We can’t take life for granted. Stop spreading any more hatred and rumours. I request the media to kindly let me heal in peace.”
