Hotel Review: Goodwood Park Hotel Singapore Staycation | Gorgeous Revamped Poolside Suite With Direct Pool Access

The Hotel Heritage hotels are rare in Singapore and Goodwood Park Hotel is one of the rare ones around close to Orchard Road. I managed to do a staycation recently in the property for the first time, where I found out some surprising facts as well.

A briefly history of the property – it was built in 1900 and began as the Teutonia Club – an elite enclave for the expatriate German community in Singapore. It is quite interesting there is some German linkage to the hotel in its initial days.

In terms of the hotel’s layout, there are 4 mains wings – Lobby, Mayfair, Tower and Parklane in the six-hectare compound with 233 guest rooms and suites.

The main lobby wing is where most of the action takes place, here’s where check-in is done and most of the dining establishments and facilities are in this wing.

The Room I checked into the Poolside Suite for my stay, a room category revamped just this year and definitely a good first impression when I stepped in. There is a nice sense of lightness in the choice of neutral colour tones and the herringbone parquet flooring.

Spacious setting and there is a separate living room which opens out directly to the hotel’s Main Pool. You get two entrances to the Poolside Suite.

Room features and amenities include a work desk, coffee table, international sockets, USB charging ports, LED TV with cable channels, mini bar, in-room safe and Nespresso coffee machine. In addition to the usual air-conditioning, there are also ceiling fans if you prefer natural ventilation. The bathroom also spots a spacious rainforest shower area.

I had the rare chance of touring some of the other room categories in the property as well, with the most opulent being the Rose Marie Suite at 260 sqm, the one and only category of its league and undoubtedly the Presidential Suite of the property. It comes with a private lift, full kitchen, spacious dining room and even a sauna in the bathroom!

The Facilities I wasn’t aware previously but there are actually 2 outdoor swimming pools. Other than the Main Pool which the Poolside Suite has direct access to, there is also the discreetly tucked away Balinese-inspired Mayfair Pool.

I personally prefer the Mayfair Pool which offers more privacy over the Main Pool.

Other facilities include the fitness centre and a business centre.

The Restaurants Quite a couple of dining options within the property which caters to different cuisines. Coffee Lounge is where breakfast is served and also famous for its Taiwan Porridge Buffet.

L’Espresso is one of the popular Afternoon Tea venue in Singapore in the hotel’s lobby where you get to enjoy a buffet spread of classic English treats and local favourites.

For an European theme, head to Gordon Grill at the lobby, quite an understated restaurant in a classy dining ambience.

Min Jiang is also one of the most established Chinese restaurants in Singapore, which went through a major revamp in the past year. I really like the new look of Min Jiang which is a marriage of contemporary and traditional elements.

For snacks and takeaways, there is The Deli where you can satisfy your durian cravings.

Rants The heritage property values old staff and it is quite distinct across all the dining concepts. Do have some patience when you are dealing with them.

Overall Experience One good aspect of Goodwood Park Hotel is that there are many room and suite categories to choose from, with each of the 4 wing distinctly different depending on your preference of style. I love the contemporary and revamped Poolside Suite, ideal for couples and small families.
