Distribution: Spectacled flying-foxes are mostly restricted to far northern Queensland, across the Atherton Tablelands and the eastern portion of the Cape York Peninsula, though camps have formed as far south as Ingham. They only very rarely co-occur with Grey-headed flying-foxes.
Appearance: Spectacled flying-foxes are distinguishable by the gold-yellow 'spectacles' that ring their eyes. Golden fur also runs along their nose and around their neck (and sometimes shoulders). This contrasts with their grey-black body. Their legs are furred only as far as the knee.
Morphometrics: Spectacled flying-foxes weigh 400g to 1kg, and their head and body is 220-250mm in length.

- Start recording flying foxes in your area. You can record individual sightings, or undertake a two part timed search - 5 minutes of listening followed by 15 minutes of looking. The timed searches will give us important information on both the presence and absence of our target frog species.
