Chris Dodd

Chris Dodd is in his second year at the helm of the HBU women’s soccer program after seven years with the program, the last of which was as associate head coach.

In his first season, the Huskies went 4-14-1 and 4-8 in Southland Conference play. HBU had five players earn all-SLC honors, the program’s most since the 2017 season, with four earning academic all-conference recognition. Dodd also saw four-year starter Bryce Reynolds sign a professional contract with Galway Women’s F.C. in Ireland as the program’s first pro signee.

A former standout goalkeeper for the HBU men’s soccer program, Dodd has been part of two Southland Conference tournament championships and two trips to the NCAA Tournament. He has worked extensively with the goalkeepers of both the men’s and women’s programs in his seven years with the HBU women averaging nearly five shutouts per year during Dodd’s tenure.

The Huskies rolled through the SLC tournament in both 2014 and 2016 en route to their two conference championships, combining to allow just three goals across six tournament games in those two seasons. HBU went on to face Texas A&M and Stanford in the NCAA Tournament following those wins.

Since 2014 when Dodd joined the HBU staff, 13 HBU players have been named first or second team all-Southland Conference with another 14 receiving honorable mention recognition. The Huskies have also had 15 academic all-conference selections in that time with Megan Rickert recently becoming a four-time academic all-SLC honoree.

Prior to joining the HBU coaching staff, Dodd trained and rostered with the Houston Dynamo Reserves in 2011. After trials in the MLS and Spain, Dodd eventually signed a professional contract to play for FC Korsholm in Finland in 2013 where he was their starting goalkeeper.

Dodd was a four-year letterwinner from 2007-10. He is the program leader with 21 wins, is second with 11 shutouts, and third with 187 saves. As a sophomore Dodd tied the single season shutout record with 6 and earned 1st team ASC All-Conference honors.

Dodd graduated from HBU in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Studio Art. He has his National Personal Training certification through the NCSF and his Goalkeeper Coaching license through the NSCAA.

He grew up in Boise, Idaho, where he played for the Boise Nationals Soccer Club, winning seven state championships. Chris captained his high school team to three District and two State championships.
