Jakarta, (ANTARA News) - Eight wushu athletes qualified from the round of 16 in the women`s 52-kg sanda competition held at the Jakarta International Expo Kemayoran on Monday night.

Wally Divine of the Philippines beat Yoysaykhan Mimu of Laos in the first match, while Samrouni Elaheh of Iran edged out Sanathoi Devi of India in the second match.

Jun Rai of Nepal lost to Thi Thu Thuy of Vietnam in the third match, while Weiting Chen of Chinese Taipei outclassed Maleesha Madumali of Srilangka in the fourth match.

In the last match, Siriluk Kaewcha of Thailand beat Kim Woojeoung of South Korea.

Three wushu athletes got bye in the round of 16. They were Pertiwi Selviah of Indonesia, Rafique Zarina of Pakistan, and Li Yueyao of China.

The women`s 52-kg sanda quarterfinals will be held on Tuesday night (Aug 21).
