Summary

Physical Description

A length of lace, Brussel Duchesse lae, bobbin and needle lace techniques, made of cotton, which consists of a repeat floral design. Repeat consists from left to right a flower shaped, adjacent to a sprig with leaves and two seven petalled flowers attached to which is a scrolling circular shape with another flower motif inside. Motifs are joined with plaited joining bars. Repeat is approximately 124mm in width. Lace is predominantly made using bobbin lace technique, with the flowers construrcted using cloth stitch with gimp thread outline, the leaves are constructed using cloth and half stitch with rolled raised vein detail and outlined in gimp. The flowers and ground inside of scrolling circular shape is constructed using needle lace technique in the point de gaze style. Lace length is made of cotton or linen.
