Actor Profile: Daniel Henney

I am a huge fan of stories of people who have had hard beginnings, only to end up the winner with an in-your-face triumph of their accomplishments, and what better way to start my actor profiles than with the gorgeous specimen of a man named Daniel Henney.

Growing up in Carson City, Michigan, it was hard for a boy with a Korean mother and a white American father to grow up without having his ethnicity being brought up, which led to a few scuffles as a child. Who know that this outcast as a child would grow up to be taking over the world (literally) in the acting department? Starting out in modeling as many tall gorgeous men do, Daniel broke his way into the acting business in Korea, becoming a popular character on a few dramas. Even though he knew no Korean at the time, they still cast him! I would cast him as well…so there is no questioning as to why he got roles on these dramas. Soon, he was taking over the advertisement roles, promoting everything from juices to cell phones. There was also a coffee box that had his face printed on it!

Wouldn’t you like to wake up to this face every morning? After taking over Korea, Daniel started to get roles on American screens, probably the biggest one being X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Yes, he played Agent Zero, the sharp shooter with the looks to kill. Yeah, now you remember him. He also played a doctor on the short-lived TV series Three Rivers, playing Dr. Lee, a surgery resident, along side Alex O’Loughlin, another very handsome actor. He has since bounced all over Asia plastering his handsome mug everywhere in advertisements.

Daniel’s newest movie, Shanghai Calling, has him showing off his skills next to Bill Paxton and Alan Ruck. If you get the chance, you should go watch him perform in the move at the Newport Beach Film Festival this week!
