Lace Bows

Lace Bows - {The Ribbon Retreat Blog}

Nothing says feminine and girly like Lace!  Nothing!  Have you seen how trendy it is right now?
With the awesome Flora Lace The Ribbon Retreat now carries, I made these cute little pig tail bows for my baby girl.

I used Pink, Brown, and Off White Lace for these bows.  There are so many fun colors to choose from though!  Such a fun, yet tough descision!

Good things about lace: 1) It’s inexpensive,  2) You can use it for sewing and crafting, 3) It makes really cute bows, and 4) lace can make anything pretty!

-Supplies-

Lace (about a yard)
Hot Glue Gun
Single Prong Clip
3/8″ Grosgrain Ribbon (to line the clip)
Needle and Thread

First cut 6 pieces of lace to 3 1/2″.  I did two each of 3 different colors.

Line the strips of lace in a (vertical) row.  Shown above.

Start at the bottom of the row and crimp the lace together at the center.

Take a needle and thread through the center.

Wrap the thread around the center several times.  Take a couple of stitches through the back and tie the thread in a knot.

Tie a piece of lace (about 3″ long) in a knot.

Put a dab of hot glue in the center of the front of your bow.

Place the knot over the glue.

Wrap the ends of the lace around, glue to secure and cut the excess lace.

Glue to a single prong clip and you are done!

Such a fast bow!  I love cute things like this that whip up so easy!  At .60 cents a yard I think we should make these in every color!

These are so cute!!! One question… with lace, do the ends fray? Is this a material that needs to be/should be/can be heat sealed? I really like these! I’m definitely going to be making these! 🙂
    Thanks for another great project!

The lace doesn’t fray. No need to seal the ends. 🙂

I love this design, I had some extra tulle left over from a tutu and I used these instructions substituting tulle instead of ribbon.

How much lace did you use to make the matching romper? I am struggling with it! I purchased 4 yards of lace for a 3T romper and it was no where near enough! 🙁 Help please!!!

Hi Erika! I asked the blogger who wrote this post, but it has been too long to recollect what you would need for a 3T. This romper was for a one year old and I think she was pretty small for her age too. I would probably double the yardage or go off of how much you were able to use and how much more you will need. Running into problems is never fun! I hope you’re able to get it done and I am sure it will be super cute! – Shirley
